Amuse is a seasonal, farm to table driven restaurant, located on the third floor of the museum. Whether you are dining in our main dining room, full-service bar, or our private dining room, you will be able to take in sweeping views of the Robins Sculpture Garden and the museum’s Cochrane Atrium. Our team works diligently to provide a menu that is directly inspired by the art-filled surroundings, current exhibitions, and seasonality while also carefully selecting only the finest ingredients from local vendors, artisans, and farmers. Just a friendly reminder that the museum does not allow balloons, confetti, glitter, plants potted with soil, and candles with open flames. If a date and time you seek for a reservation appears to be full, please give us a call so we can see what other times might be available.

Top notch service with an array of their traditional selections with a "twisted" approach reflecting the Samurai Japanese exhibition presently at VMFA. We always order the oysters whenever we are dining at Amuse, and these continue to be one of our favorites. They are small - in appetizer-size servings - but just perfect for those who love fresh seafood. As it was lunch, we stayed with ordering appetizers, which along with their carrot-ginger salad, was perfect for mid-day. Always reliable.

Excellent lunch. Service was top notch. If only American didn't feel that everyone at the next table was interested in their conversation!

I could not have been more pleased with our lunch at Amuse. We had the grilled mushrooms appetizer which was absolutely delicious, as was my king salmon with bok choi and crunchy slaw. I mean REALLY delicious. My partner said his NY strip steak earned an A. We sat by the window and had a beautiful view of the clouds in the sky which was so peaceful. They even wrote "Happy Anniversary" on our menu and put a "Happy Anniversary" message on our dessert.

The quiche special was delicious, moist, and ample. The side salad on the plate had a lovely delicate dressing. I wished for more side salad, but then I'm part rabbit. Our grandson's waffles disappeared quickly which was a good sign. That meant he loved them. It's a lovely place to meet friends inside of a world class museum.

The appetizers (fried clams and chicken yakitori) and the service were top notch. The views are really nice, great wide open window that look out into the museum campus. The chicken katsu was not good. The bread, while tasty sort of fell apart while eating the sandwich. The flavors were just okay. The prices for the sandwich was high with a little salad ($19) and had we passed on the appetizer I think we would have walked away hungry. Nice discount for museum members (10%) but the meal didn’t impress. They’re changing it out in a week for some new items, fingers crossed they’re a bit better.

Loved the Japanese-style dishes in honor of the current Samurai Armor exhibit. We started with the fried oysters which are always excellent. Then my husband had the pork belly ramen, and I had the smoky mushroom tofu. We also shared the carrot and ginger salad. Just delicious! Our waitress was very helpful in our ordering process by describing and discussing entrees of interest and the specials. We had a lovely bottle of red Burgundy with our dinner. The process to get it was a little confusing. From our waitress' comments, we thought the sommelier was going to come to our table to help us choose a wine. But instead our waitress relayed tasting notes from the sommelier. Then after we ordered the bottle of wine, the sommelier did come to our table to open the wine.
