Good, attentive service. Food was very good but a bit on the pricy side (think Atlanta prices). All in all a decent night out in all events.
Started off with the calimari special appetizer. It tasted great but was very modest for the price. I ordered the rib eye which is listed as smoked medium rare. The smoke flavor is so prominent that you can barely tell your eating steak rather than pork. The medium rare was actually more medium well and not very juicy at all. Very disappointing. The waitress didn’t even question why I only ate a few bites. Our dog did like it however. My wife and a guest ordered the scallop special. The scallops were perfectly cooked and the rice grits were interesting to say the least. Overall this was our 5-6 trip and I’d have to say the most disappointing. A word of advice is stick to seafood dishes.
The food and service were fabulous. The meal unfortunately took an hour from when we ordered.
My husband and I enjoyed our evening at Able Brown. We shared the house oysters on the half shell. They were very good but small. Enjoyed our meal although the ribeye steak was very smokey. One of our favorite places and we will return.
Love going to Abel Brown....always good food and good service.
Very nice atmosphere, but row seating was kind of odd. I understand that this seating is the most efficient for the space. The broiled oysters were amazing; I really liked the harissa sauce and parmesan cheese combination. The golden beet salad was excellent and we appreciated the way the single portion was split for us. The finishing salt on the endive was a little much, but the salt did accent the sweeter beets and peaches. Both of our entrees were excellent, but the best surprise was the complimentary dessert because it was our wedding anniversary.
We had a reservation at 7:00 p.m. for a business dinner and all 3 persons were there at 6:40 but the server made us wait until 7:00 on the dot before seating us. There were plenty of tables available including the one they sat us at which we could see the entire time was empty. The food was excellent tasting and excellently prepared but the portions were quite small for the price. I take a lot of clients to dinner and compare restaurants from all over. SO my review is "average simply because our dinner started out poorly with the hostess not seating us. My clients are the ones that were not happy, hence, I was not happy. :(
Always great service and wonderful atmosphere!! The food is super yummy especially the oysters!
Good drinks, great service. I ordered the pork loin medium rare. It was slightly pink but extremely dry. I could not finish it. Overall a nice place.
Restaurant very overrated. Sangria was watered down, limited entree selection. Need to bring back pecan crusted ribeye.
Excellent service and great food
Awesome night! Our server was Natalie and she made sure my mother and brother had an awesome birthday! Promote her ASAP!
Had a wonderful meal with family. We had the drink specials which are always fun, charcuterie, raw and broiled oysters and more. All delicious. This is our favorite restaurant.
First time visit and was better than I expected! Hats off to Abel Brown.
Had the duck entre. It was a duck breast cooked about medium rare. To my surprise, though the preparation was flavorful, the breast was above average tough and I didn’t finish it because it became a hassle to chew it. Otherwise, the dinner was enjoyable
If you’re looking for good, clean, and flavorful oysters, Abel Brown is your place! I also had the opportunity to try a new entree that was listed as a special ( the duck breast, farro, and eggplant) as well as the key lime pie served in a mason jar. None of the courses disappointed. I thoroughly enjoy my meal and the service was great! I would highly recommend this restaurant to any and everyone!
Limited menu, but overall very good food. Great service! Wish the specials were printed out so the server wouldn't have to rattle off a long list and I wouldn’t have to try to remember what they said or ask them to repeat it. Also it’s frustrating when you see another guest get something not on the menu and you assume it’s part of the special that your server forgot to tell you about. But the food is really good! And the service is excellent. I’d eat there more often but it’s expensive. But then again....it’s good.
Our favorite place in Augusta! Abel Brown never disappoints and I’m so glad I chose to celebrate my birthday here! Thanks for a great night!!
They ran out of the specials which my wife wanted, but changed some items around for my wife and we had a great meal.
A great place to dinner for every occasion. The food was amazing.
Still one of the best restaurants in the area, but I do miss some of the stuff they did not bring back since the renovation. Some of the food and beer options are no longer available.
Oysters were extremely small, tiny, and tasteless! Caesar salad was boring, minimal dressing, no crouton, no taste, very disappointing! Halibut ok, but portion very small, Atlanta char average. Worst of all, told them it was special occasion — birthday — both in open table reservation and at hostess stand and to server, and they said “we will bring something special” — and at end of meal, NOTHING!! “Here’s the check”, see ya later. Wow!! Incompetent and rude, too bad, this used to be our favorite restaurant, not now, sad,
Enjoyed the meal-would love to have had a booth instead of bench. It was very noisy. The wait staff was excellent.
Abel Brown is fantastic. Such a great happy hour and specials and the food is impeccable. Visited Augusta this week and stopped by twice. Both times was lucky enough to have Blake and he was one of the best waiters I've ever had. Super attentive, funny, knowledgeable and friendly. Their wine and oysters are a great selection and all the specials change frequently. Can't wait to come back.
Outstanding food, cocktails and service.
As always, great food and service. My favorite restaurant in Augusta!
Service was great as was the food. I had the pork shank entree. My only suggestion would be to slow cook the shank longer to make the meat more tender
Always a good place to go, great staff and food. Chocolate croissant bread pudding great dessert.
Abel Brown never disappoints! Their selection of oysters is fantastic. The entire menu is fabulous. They always have great specials and the food is not just good, but great! In addition, as always, service was friendly, timely, and professional.
As usual the food was delicious and seasoned very well. Unfortunately, it too way to long to get our food. We waited almost an hour after ordering. We had spoken so highly of this place to out friends that it was sad they had to get frustrated with the amount of time that took to be served. The server was pleasant.
Outstanding food. Outstanding service. Outstanding oysters. Outstanding drinks. Only complaint was the hideous plastic chairs lol.
We had an amazing dinner and amazing server, Victoria. The oysters were terrific as always and the beet salad is the best I’ve ever had. We had been here last week and a miserable experience. Glad that was just a bad night.
One of my favorite restaurants in town! Always a great experience!
great food in a pleasant environment with good service.
Food was great..........as always! Server was outstanding! It was a little noisier than usual which was a little bothersome as we celebrated our anniversary. However, overall, a great experience.
Absolutely delicious!! A little pricey, so we save Abel Brown for special occasions, but we are never disappointed.
Seafood cooked perfectly and tasty cocktails. What else could you ask for!
Our first time at this restaurant. The ambiance was very nice, the food well prepared, savory and set in an excellent presentation and satisfying portions. My wife’s shrimp and grits and my pork shank were excellent. My only issues were the limited oyster selection and the poorly made and strangely served Martini. As far as the oysters were concerned, no Belons or Malpeques were offered although I realize we were somewhat out of season. The ones we ordered however were, fresh, briny and excellent. The Martini was not nearly cold enough, served with olives on bamboo toothpick ( splinters!) and poured not into traditional Martini glass but a receptacle more akin to a sherbet dish. Other than those two items, it was an excellent dining experience and one which we will plan to return to in the near future.
Definitely not worth the money paid. I took my family from out of town and we were disappointed in our experience. The chicken wings were very disappointing and the ice cream was no better than ice cream we could have gotten in a grocery store. The steak was good, but their competition in Evans has a much better steak. The best part of the meal was the salad and the bread pudding. We also found a wine that was really good, but for a $300 meal...we could have hired a chef to prepare a private meal at our home. Definitely an unfortunate experience. We will not return.
Very nice atmosphere. Not enough choices in drinks for happy hour. Crab Cskes overpriced and not that good.
