Great place with excellent food. Outside seating is nice but 10th avenue ruins it a bit with the excessive traffic and horn honking.
I chose this restaurant because I was told it is dog friendly. We were sitting in a really cramped area where neither I or the person sitting behind me had enough space. My dog weighs 20lbs, she barely had room to sit or lay down. I couldnt even find space to put down her water bowl. The seats are metal and LOUD when moved causing my dog a lot of stress.
The food and service are fine, but the tables are packed in tight and unless you have a tiny dog that fits on your lap, your dog will be very uncomfortable here.
Always a great choice for theatre district dining. Diverse menu, high quality.
I always love 44&X. I have been going here for years. Excellent Brunch and dinners. I had the best salmon & sour cream omelet the last time I was there and my friend had the tomato & cheddar. Both dishes were excellent. We enjoyed sitting outside and service was excellent!! Thank you so much for always being consistent and my all time favorite restaurant!!
We ate here before a show. The waiter was mindful of this and the service was on par. All the food was excellent, with a great selection of fish dishes. Will definitely return to this restaurant.
Very pretty restaurant, good drinks, nice appetizer. However, main courses lacked presentation and are expensive. The "lobster salad" was basically a stir fry and the three small pieces of lobster was tough and lack flavor. The menu does not say it is served warm and that was a surprise, to say the least. The waiter did offer to replace. The presentation of the sole lacked any imagination, although it tasted fine. Overall, an expensive disappointment. The lobster salad was $41. I've heard its a hopping brunch venue so maybe they should stick with that.
Perfect spot before signature theater. Adds to the experience.
We had a 5:30 reservation. Were seated promptly inside. Cocktails were exceptional. Appetizer of raviolo was delicious with seafood. Dinner was delicious. And desert to share perfected the experience.
Everything was first rate about our experience. Love dining outside...wish they could tell the coach bus drivers to shut off their engines when stopped for extended periods on the street.
Great service and food. Ordered the lamb and the branzino special. Amazing
One of my favs ! The the staff is always so nice and the food consistent.
Very accommodating for an early Broadway curtain! Staff & food is top notch. Not only is the owner kind and welcoming, but he very graciously sent over a complimentary dessert! Have eaten here many times before, and will always continue to do so!
Fabulous! Get the sole... it is soulful! Will go back!
My brother came into town and was staying on the West Side so I decided to pick this place since it was close to his hotel. The food was amazing - perfectly cooked. The appetizers were very filling - my brother ordered three of them as his main course and was stuffed by the end. I had the scallops appetizer and short ribs main. The scallops were perfectly cooked and all the ingredients complimented each other. The short ribs were in a weird bowl so everything was kind of squished together. However, it was cooked to perfection. The wine reduction was a perfect sauce for it. Even though we were both so stuffed at the end, we split the banana split ice cream. It was awesome. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up!
I have been to this restaurant many times. This was the first time where I was disappointed. Why?
1. It took almost 15 minutes for the waiter to come and greet me even though the restaurant was not busy
2. When I mentioned this to the receptionist, he was outside chatting to people instead of being inside the place monitoring activity.
3. The food was good but the laziness of the waiter put a damper on my overall meal.
The bill should have included some sort of comp and DID NOT.
Dinner with a relative not seen for a long time. Food was great tho bread stale. Service excellent. Music was a little loud to have conversations
This is a must for Sunday brunch, we turned up just before it opened and were greeted by one of the management who didn’t lie when he said as soon as their doors open every table will be taken .
It has a great atmosphere and this is also down to the very friendly staff who are very slick and do everything effortlessly, almost without you knowing they are there .
The food is delicious and tasty and portion sizes are just right to leave you nicely full .
Would definitely go back when visiting from London again and highly recommend.
Would recommend booking before you go
I think the menu is creative and the food is delicious. I had a lobster salad that was pricey but well worth it. terrific ingredients, fresh, and very flavorful We got to sit out side and it was great people watching. I will return next time I am in New York.
44 & X is a great place for dinner. We went on a Friday evening, and were greeted and seated right away - even though the theater crowd was there. Most folks liked to sit outside, but we opted for indoors. It was nice and quiet. Our server was very attentive and kept us informed.
It was difficult to choose form the extensive menu of delicious dishes, but we all found something. The food was excellent. I had the meatloaf which was so unusual and quite delicious. My friends had the chicken and the tilapia, which was the best he had ever had. I started with the Caesar salad, which was a bit on the large size, but a great salad. The drinks were super.
Our server surprised us with a special dessert - their molten chocolate souffle with ice cream that we shared - a perfect ending to a perfect meal.
I haven't been here in years, and was so pleased to be back. I shall return soon.
Service is attentive. Restaurant can be noisy is full. Suggest you eat outside if weather is good so you can talk. Food is freshly prepared with attractive plating and is always served hot. Place can also be a little frenetic pre theater. Always highly satisfied.
Food was gourmet. I highly recommend this gem. From the appetizers to dessert each course not only presented well. It tasted delicious. I had the wedge salad and it had an amazing dressing. Chicken was so moist , cleaned my plate. And had the cherry pie for dessert. Served warm ala mode. Can’t wait to go agsin
Excellent experience as usual! Burgers and Mac and cheese!
This was my 2nd visit to 44 X. Sam was out waiter again but would have preferred 6:45pm instead. It was very noisy but too small to share w/ 4 people. The beet salad was fantastic & monkfish special as well as the sole, mahi mahi & short rib entree's were outstanding. Portions on entree's were just enough. Peanut Butter mousse & sorbet plate also tasty.
We have a small theater group and have tried many of the restaurants in that area. This was by far our absolute favorite.
Always a good choice - cocktails are great. No matter how full you are you HAVE to have the Banana Split - it is HEAVENLY.
Been to 44x several times. Love the food and service. My only criticism is we did feel rushed for brunch. Not by our server he was excellent. One of the people in management seemed very anxious to turn over our table. We had five people and we ordered a second round of drinks. He stared at our table several times and also seemed that he was upset with our server not rushing us along. We spoke to the owner on the way out and he is a perfect gentleman.
The ambience is contemporary elegance. The staff is friendly and attentive. The cuisine is fabulous. And, we especially appreciated the late service hours as we were able to go apres theater!
Have dined here several times pre and post theater. This time sat outdoors. Food is always delicious and inventive. Server was really friendly. We will be back.
Look, we knew it was overpriced before we went so I really can't complain. The food is very good, though the service was practically nonexistent. I should have sent up a flare to get some attention though, at these prices, I shouldn't have to...
Liked the mahi mahi topped with BBQ sauce resting on veggies but portion was so paltry for $37! Hubbie's duck breast a better portion and also very good. But the star of the evening was the warm cherry pie with vanilla gelato - utterly heavenly! As usual service was friendly and excellent, a major impetus for our patronage here.
Waffles were dry . No taste. Worse than waffles made in a toaster. Over priced.
Shout out to Bruno for being an awesome waiter!
Fun place to have dinner with really good food.
This was my second time at this wonderful restaurant and it did not disappoint. I had found the menu quite limited when I was there a year ago (heavy on meat and mushrooms (allergic to the latter). Perhaps it was due to the season but I had a hard time deciding what to choose. My part of 3 shared appetizers because they all looked (and ultimately tasted) amazing, and I finally settled on Mahi Mahi for the entree. There was a nice mix of protein options and the preparations were creative and combined seasonings and ingredients to perfection. Truly a wonderful meal. Brandon, our waiter, was new but did a great job and I will most definitely not let more than a couple of months pass before my next visit to 44 & X.
Great food and attentive service. It’s becoming one of my regular destinations.
This is one of our go-to spots for lunch or dinner when we have theater plans. We have always been pleased with the service, ambiance and menu choices. The food is always fresh, well prepared and presented. The staff is always pleasant, efficient and knowledgable.
Had dinner with a friend I hadn’t seen in 20 years - I love the place but it gets really loud and hard to hear each other.
One of my very favorite restaurants. Excellent food; excellent service. Love this place
Fantastic favorite. Close to Broadway.
What a great evening! Was impressed with the attentive staff and the food was divine. It was my brother’s birthday and they made it extra special, the waiters sang Happy Birthday and brought out desert with a lit candle for him. Highly recommend.
